The SIM Info Worth Having

Which company issued a number, whether a card is live, and how many cards sit on your CNIC. Three facts, all reachable by text message, and none of them a name.

There is no public directory where you can look up SIM info by number or by name. The only lawful SIM info you can access is what is registered to your own CNIC, through PTA's official channels: SMS 668, cnic.sims.pk, SMS 667, or SMS 76367.

What the record holds

SIM information in Pakistan covers these data points, all linked to a CNIC:

  • Issuing company: Jazz (Mobilink), Zong (CMPak), Telenor Pakistan, Ufone (PTML), SCO or Onic
  • Mobile number: the 11-digit MSISDN starting with 03
  • CNIC: the 13-digit National Identity Card number of the registered owner
  • Activation date and status: whether the SIM is active or deactivated
  • SIM type: voice or data SIM

This SIM information system is operated by PTA and the mobile operators. It is not open to public search.

Key takeaways:

  • SIM info means the registration record: CNIC, number, company, status and SIM type.
  • You can pull your own count (668 or cnic.sims.pk), your own SIM's record (667) and any number's network (76367).
  • No official channel gives another person's name, address or CNIC.
  • Check monthly: until an unknown SIM is blocked, its use and misuse sit on your CNIC, and on you.

Getting the info on your own CNIC

You can access SIM info registered to your own CNIC through these official PTA methods:

MethodWhat to SendWhat You Get Back
SMS 66813-digit CNIC, no dashesSIM count per company
cnic.sims.pkCNIC plus captchaSame count, online
SMS 667MNP from the SIM you holdName and CNIC on that SIM
SMS 76367N, space, 11 digitsNetwork name only

None of these reveals the owner of a number that is not yours. That would violate PECA 2016 Section 16.

Getting SIM Info by SMS: the 668 Flow

  1. Open Messages, not the dialler 668 is an SMS short code; a dialled 668 does nothing.
  2. Type your 13-digit CNIC without dashes The card prints it as 12345-1234567-1. PTA's releases of 10 November 2023 and 31 December 2025 require digits only, no spaces, no words.
  3. Send once and wait for the reply Charges may apply per PTA's latest notice, so avoid resending loops.
  4. Read the counts company by company Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCO: each line is a number of SIMs on you, not a list of them.

No internet needed. The online mirror is cnic.sims.pk, the official PTA portal: your own CNIC plus a reCAPTCHA, no listed fee, the same count on screen. It has two tabs, CNIC and Foreign ID. The method in full: how many SIMs are on your CNIC.

Three Questions, Three Replies

Your questionSendThe reply is
How many SIMs are on my CNIC?CNIC, no dashes, to 668A count per company
Whose name is my SIM registered under?MNP to 667, from that SIMNumber, name, CNIC and SIM number
Which network is a number on now?N, a space, 11 digits to 76367The company name only

Prefixes alone cannot answer the third question: they mark the original allocation, and mobile number portability moves lines between networks. That is what 76367 is for. Every code, price and failure mode is in our SIM check SMS codes reference.

Why SIM Info Looks the Way It Does

A SIM is born into the record at a franchise counter. Since 2015 registration has required fingerprint verification against NADRA records, and since December 2022 issuance runs through MBVS, which randomly reads two fingers to blunt fake fingerprints. The current PTA ceiling stands at 8 SIMs per CNIC: 5 voice and 3 data, combined across all networks.

The same rules decide what the record gives out. PTA releases a count to the CNIC holder and nothing wider. A stranger's fields stay with the operator, and handling another person's identity data without authorisation is an offence under PECA 2016, explained on our PECA law page.

When the Info on Your CNIC Is Wrong

Two failures matter. A count too high: note the company, visit its franchise with your original CNIC, verify by fingerprint and request disowning. It costs up to Rs 200 if voluntary and is free in fraud cases; a newly purchased SIM cannot be disowned or transferred within 365 days of activation. A count too low: a SIM may not have completed registration, or a recent one has not updated; check again later and contact the operator if your own line is missing.

If the company leaves the record wrong, complain to PTA on 0800-55055 or file at complaint.pta.gov.pk. The evidence list and escalation ladder are in blocking unauthorised SIMs.

SIM Info by Number: What Is and Is Not Possible

You cannot get SIM info by mobile number from a public source. SMS 76367 tells you only which network a number is on (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone or SCO/Onic). SMS 667 tells you the name and CNIC on a SIM, but only if the SIM is in your hand and you send MNP from that SIM.

Any site or APK promising SIM owner details by number is not running a real lookup. It is collecting your data or showing invented screenshots.

FAQ

What is SIM info in Pakistan?

The registration record held against a SIM card: the owner's 13-digit CNIC, the mobile number, the issuing company, activation status and whether the card is voice or data. Operators and PTA hold it, and only the CNIC holder can query official checks.

Can I get SIM info by mobile number?

Only the network. Send N, a space and the 11 digits to 76367 and the reply names the current company, for Rs 2 plus tax. No public service returns the owner's name, CNIC or address for a number you do not hold.

What is the free way to see SIM info on myself?

Open cnic.sims.pk, enter your own CNIC without dashes, pass the reCAPTCHA and Submit. The portal lists no fee and shows your SIM count per company. SMS 668 gives the same count, though PTA says charges may apply.

How many SIMs can one CNIC hold?

The current PTA limit is up to 8 SIMs per CNIC for personal use: 5 voice and 3 data, combined across all networks rather than per operator. Your 668 count shows where you stand against it.

Does SIM info include an address?

Not in any check you can run. Official replies give counts, a network name, or the four fields of your own SIM via 667. Addresses never appear, which is exactly why "address by number" sites are fabricating.

The SIM Info Worth Keeping: Conclusion

The SIM info that matters is three facts you can reach by text message: your count per company on 668 or cnic.sims.pk, the record of a card in your hand on 667, and the current network of any number on 76367. Names, addresses and other people's files are not in the system by design, and no paid "database" changes that.

Do the free half of it now: open cnic.sims.pk, or text your CNIC without dashes to 668, and reconcile the counts against your own list of SIMs. If a company is over, follow the disowning route above while the check is still dated and fresh.
