Check SIM the Only Two Ways
Send your 13-digit CNIC, no dashes, to 668, or type it into cnic.sims.pk. Both answer one question: how many SIMs are registered on you, company by company.
There is no public way to check SIM details by mobile number or by name. The checks below work only for your own CNIC or your own SIM.
The two official methods
| Method | What to Send | What You Get | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| SMS 668 | 13-digit CNIC, no dashes | SIM count per company | PTA says charges may apply |
| cnic.sims.pk | CNIC plus captcha | Same count online | Free, no listed fee |
| SMS 667 | MNP from your SIM | Name and CNIC on that SIM | Rs 2 plus tax (Jazz) |
| SMS 76367 | N, space, 11 digits | Network name only | Rs 2 plus tax |
Step by step
- Open Messages, not the dialler 668 is an SMS short code. Dialling it does nothing.
- Type your 13-digit CNIC alone No dashes, no spaces, no extra words. PTA's releases of 10 November 2023 and 31 December 2025 both say: digits only.
- Send the message to 668 Check that your SIM has balance first. Each send may be charged, so never resend in a loop.
- Read the count per company PTA replies with SIM counts for Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone and SCO.
- Match it against your own SIMs Routers, MiFis, tablets, trackers and old drawer SIMs count too.
If nothing arrives, open the sent message and look for a missing digit or an extra word. Wait a few minutes and send once more. If there is still no reply, stop sending and use the website instead, described below.
The CNIC You Type: Why the Format Matters
A CNIC is a 13-digit identity number issued by NADRA. On the card it is printed in three groups: five digits, seven digits, one digit, for example 12345-1234567-1. The dashes are only a reading aid.
For a SIM check the printed form is wrong. 668 wants the 13 digits joined together, with no dashes and no spaces, because the system matches the digits against its own records. The same rule applies on cnic.sims.pk. Our guide to CNIC information in Pakistan explains what the digits encode and what they never encode.
Reading the 668 Reply, Line by Line
The reply is a tally, company by company. Treat each line as an answer to one question: how many SIMs does this company hold on your CNIC.
| Reply line | What it means | What it never means |
|---|---|---|
| A company name | One of Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone or SCO has SIMs on your CNIC | A list of their numbers |
| A number beside it | How many SIMs that company has registered on your CNIC | How many SIMs the company holds in total |
| No line for a company | Nothing registered with that company, or a delay worth re-checking | Proof the record is wrong today |
PTA has published no sample reply, so treat any screenshot that shows phone numbers or names "from 668" as invented: a count check cannot show them. How to check how many SIMs are on your CNIC covers the same reading in more detail.
The Online Route: cnic.sims.pk
cnic.sims.pk is PTA's official portal, and it lists no fee. You need internet access and nothing else.
- Open the portal The address must read cnic.sims.pk. The real page has no box for a mobile number and asks for no sign-up, app or payment.
- Use the CNIC tab The page has two tabs: CNIC for Pakistani card holders and Foreign ID for foreign nationals.
- Enter your 13 digits without dashes The same rule as the SMS: digits only.
- Complete the reCAPTCHA and press Submit The result is the same count per company, on screen instead of by text.
You do not need both routes for a routine check. Run the second only when the first count looks wrong against your own list, and keep both results dated if they disagree. Every short code is listed in our SIM check SMS codes reference.
If the Count Is Too High
A company's count above your own list can mean an unauthorised SIM on your CNIC. The check will not tell you who holds it: that question belongs to the operator and, in fraud cases, to the NCCIA.
Your route is the company's franchise, with your original CNIC and your fingerprints. Voluntary disowning costs up to Rs 200 and is free in fraud cases, and a newly purchased SIM cannot be disowned or transferred within 365 days of activation. If the franchise leaves the count unchanged, complain to PTA on 0800-55055 or through its complaint portal on pta.gov.pk. The full process is in our guide to blocking unauthorised SIMs.
What no check will give you
You cannot publicly check:
- Who owns a mobile number (except your own SIM via 667)
- How many SIMs are on someone else's CNIC
- Real-time location of any SIM
- A "live SIM tracker" or "fresh SIM database"
Sites promising these are scams. Report them to NCCIA on 1799 or PTA on 0800-55055.
FAQ
How do I check SIM details in Pakistan?
There are two official checks for your own CNIC: text the 13 digits without dashes to 668, or enter them with the reCAPTCHA on cnic.sims.pk. Both show how many SIMs are registered on you, company by company. No public check works by name or by someone else's number.
Is the 668 SIM check free?
Not guaranteed. PTA's latest notice, dated 31 December 2025, says charges may apply, so check your network's SMS rate before sending. The cnic.sims.pk portal lists no fee, and the result it shows is the same count per company.
Can I check SIM by mobile number?
Only one number-based check exists: text N, a space and the 11-digit number to 76367, and the reply names the network. It never names the owner. Registration details for a SIM come only from 667, sent from that SIM, which means it must be in your hand.
What if my 668 count does not match my own SIMs?
First list every line on your CNIC, including routers, MiFis, tablets and family lines. If a company's count is still too high, an unauthorised SIM may exist: disown it at that company's franchise with your original CNIC and fingerprints, then re-check the count.
Do I need internet to check my SIMs?
No. SMS 668 works with mobile balance and no data connection. The cnic.sims.pk website needs internet but lists no fee. Use whichever route you have, and use the other only as a second opinion when a count looks wrong.
Check SIM: the bottom line
To check SIM details in Pakistan you have exactly two official routes for your own CNIC: the SMS to 668 and cnic.sims.pk. Both return a count per company, both need your 13 digits without dashes, and neither shows a name, a number or an address belonging to anybody else.
Your next step takes one minute: open your messages and send your CNIC, digits only, to 668. Compare the counts against a written list of your own SIMs, phones and data devices together. If one company is over, start blocking the unauthorised SIM the same day.
